This newsletter is produced by the Victorian Government's Department of Business and Innovation, and provides an update on ICT trade and business development activities and initiatives for Victorian ICT companies.

Game Developers Conference

5 – 9 March 2012, San Francisco, USA

GDC returns to San Francisco for five days of sessions, tutorials, and round table discussions on a comprehensive selection of game development topics taught by leading industry experts. From year to year, the GDC continues to define market innovations and future vision, providing insight into the future of gaming.

Hong Kong International ICT Expo, Trade Mission

13 - 16 April 2012, Hong Kong

Expressions of Interest are sought from Victorian ICT companies interested in participating in the Victorian mission to the Hong Kong International ICT Expo. The HKTDC International ICT Expo is a powerful leading Asian trade event, linking ICT product and service providers with buyers from around the world. More than 570 global exhibitors will showcase their latest products and solutions at the Expo which attracts almost 30,000 visitors from across the region. Group pavilions include representatives from Australia, Canada, the Chinese mainland, India, the Philippines and Taiwan.

Yeosu World Trade Expo, Trade Mission

8 - 12 May 2012, South Korea

Located in the small coastal city of Yoesu, it is expected the Expo will involve approximately 100 countries, 5 international organisations, 10 corporations and 16 local governments. Ten million visitors are expected to visit the Expo with its key theme 'the Living Ocean and Coast - Diversity of Resources and Sustainable Activities'.

Victoria will have a strategic engagement in the Yeosu Expo and will support Victorian exporters - many from the ICT industry - to travel to Korea to meet with potential partners and customers as well as visiting the Expo. Expressions of Interest are sought from Victorian ICT companies interested in participating in this mission.

Super Trade Mission to China

14 - 19 May 2012, China

The Premier of Victoria, Ted Baillieu announced during a visit to China in September 2011, that the Victorian Government would host a 'Super Trade Mission' to China in the first half of 2012. This multi-sectoral trade mission of up to 250 companies, many from the ICT sector, will be led by senior Victorian Government and industry representatives. This Super Trade Mission will incorporate business-to-business meetings, in-market site visits, and networking events tailored to each industry.

Expressions of Interest are sought from Victorian ICT companies to participate in Australia’s largest trade mission to China.

CommunicAsia 2012

19 - 22 June 2012, Singapore

CommunicAsia2012 will be presenting yet another comprehensive ICT platform, unveiling how ICT can shape and influence your business, bringing it to another level. The Victorian Government will once again have a presence at the show.

Cloud Insights With US Vivek Kundra

Victorian Women in ICT Network – 'Being a Woman in IT' – Guest Speaker Event

The 'Being a Woman in IT' series is where we have asked a number of inspiring people in Information Technology, and related fields, to share their experiences with you. The series is designed to give you the opportunity to:

  • Get ideas on how to progress your career;
  • Consider different career opportunities and alternatives;
  • Hear experiences on how to deal with some of the challenges you face as a woman in the workforce; and
  • Network.
